Moses gives the Israelites instructions for the sabbath. He takes an offering of materials to create the tabernacle, its furnishings, and vestments for priests. Bezalel and Oholiab are chosen as designers.
Exodus 34: The New Stone Tablets
Yahweh replaces the Ten Commandments and reaffirms his covenant with Israel. He appears before Moses. Moses returns to the Israelites markedly changed, leaving the Israelites and the priests in awe.
Exodus 33: The Tent of Meeting
The Israelites atone for their sin of worshiping another god. Yahweh promises to travel with the Israelites to his promised land. Yahweh appears in Moses’s tent and explains how he will reveal himself.
Exodus 32: The Golden Calf
While Moses was on the mountain with Yahweh, the Israelites reverted back to their old gods. Moses returns and commands the true believers to purge the camp of disbelievers. Yahweh sends a plague on the remaining disbelievers.
Exodus 31: Bezalel and Oholiab
Yahweh tells Moses he has appointed craftsmen to make the items he has commanded. He commands the Israelites to keep the sabbath. He gives Moses the law on stone tablets.
Exodus 30: The Altar of Incense
Yahweh gives more instructions for equipment and ritual for prayer.
Exodus 29: Consecration of the Priests
Yahweh gives instructions for how Aaron and his sons will be consecrated and offerings made to make them and the altar holy. Aaron’s descendants will be the priests.
Exodus 28: The Priestly Garments
Yahweh gives instructions to make garments for Aaron and his sons to serve as priests at the tabernacle.
Exodus 27: The Altar of Burnt Offering
Yahweh gives instructions to create and altar and a courtyard for the tabernacle. He also commands Aaron and is descendants to maintain the oil lamps.
