Joseph’s awareness or connection with God seems to be entirely through dreams. He has a gift for dream interpretation.

While this chapter does not have direct interaction with God or anything miraculous, his interpretations of the men’s dreams do come true. So, Joseph is touched with the ability of divination or soothsaying.

How this is distinguished from sorcery is unclear.
