Moses’ father-in-law Jethro visits the Israelite camp, He advises Moses to organize elders as judges over the Israelites to help him resolve their disputes. He returns home, leaving Moses’ wife and sons with him.
Exodus 15: The Song of Moses and Miriam
The Israelites sing a song praising Yahweh for deliverance from the Egyptians. They find bitter water in Marah. The find an oasis in Elim to set up camp.
Exodus 14: Crossing the Sea
Yahweh separates the Red Sea so that the Israelites can cross and escape the Egyptian army. The Egyptian Army is drowned when they follow them. This miracle convinces the Israelites to put their trust in Yahweh and Moses.
Exodus 12: The Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread
Yahweh gives instructions to Moses and Aaron for the Israelites to prepare a meal and mark their houses with blood. He kills all the firstborn humans and livestock in Egypt, passing over the homes marked with blood. The Israelites prepare to leave Egypt, collecting gold, silver and clothing from their neighbors and preparing unleavened dough. Yahweh gives instructions to for future generations to celebrate this festival in remembrance.
Exodus 11: The Plague on the Firstborn
Yahweh commands Moses to tell Pharaoh that the firstborn in all of Egypt will die.
Exodus 10: The Plague of Locusts
Yahweh sends a plague of locusts to devour the land. Egypt is ruined but Pharaoh still will not let the Israelites go. Then Yahweh covers the Egypt in darkness for three days.
Exodus 9: The Plague of Livestock
Yahweh sends a plague on the Egyptian livestock, killing all that was in the fields except in the land of Goshen. He then sends boils and hail. Pharaoh still refuses to let the Israelites go.
Exodus 8: The Plague of Frogs
Yahweh continues to bring plagues onto Egypt with increasing severity. Pharaoh still refuses to let the Israelites go.
Exodus 7: Aaron to Speak for Moses
Yahweh tells Moses that Pharaoh will see him as a god and Aaron as his prophet. Moses and Aaron preform wonders for Pharaoh and his officials. Pharaoh refuses to believe.
Exodus 6: God Promises Deliverance
Yahweh explains to Moses who he is and the covenant he made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He tells Moses and Aaron to demand release of the Israelites.
